When designing packaging for high-profile institutional recognitions, presence and scale matter immensely. Recently, the Blosbox team tackled an extraordinary structural challenge: engineering a grand-scale, premium presentation box for the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia (Стопанска комора на Северна Македонија) designed to securely house and elevate their prestigious corporate awards and plaques.
The Challenge: Overcoming Standard Paper & Board Size Limits
Standard luxury rigid packaging is typically built around conventional commercial paper sheets and standard printing press formats. For this project, the specifications demanded striking proportions:
- Large Award Box: Internal dimensions of 420 x 334 mm featuring a deep 330 mm lid and a 30 mm base.
- Standard Award Box: Internal dimensions of 300 x 220 mm featuring a 240 mm lid and a 20 mm base.
These large-scale dimensions stretch far beyond standard single-sheet paper and board formats. Because producing a seamless rigid box of this magnitude from a single piece of raw material is physically impossible due to paper mill limitations, our atelier engineered an advanced modular construction technique.

- V-Grooved Architectural Precision: Built using robust 3mm thick rigid cardboard, each corner is meticulously V-grooved (milled) prior to wrapping. This technique eliminates bulky, rounded edges, yielding razor-sharp 90-degree corners for a clean, high-end architectural finish.
- Modular Core Construction: To bypass standard paper sheet limits, the box base was engineered from multiple interlocking structural components, seamlessly integrated with a secondary inner wall element that serves as a functional closing neck (extending 30mm and 25mm respectively).
- Independent Lid Architecture: Designed with a completely independent, unattached lid and base for effortless handling and smooth unboxing during formal corporate ceremonies.
- Tactile Luxury & Plotter-Cut Details: Draped entirely in rich black velvet, the exterior features razor-sharp branding crafted using a cutting plotter to precisely cut the custom chrome graphics, followed by a professional heat press to permanently bond the metallic element onto the textured velvet surface.
